Message from the Superintendent
The Springdale
School District has created over time a tradition that is squarely
focused on
service to students. It will be our
opportunity in the 2007–2008 school year to build on that legacy and to
help
each student achieve at proficient and advanced levels of learning. Our child–oriented instructional system
tailors
instructional plans for the individual child because we know that
children have
different strengths and abilities, different challenges, different
talents and
interests. Children learn in different
ways and at different speeds; therefore, we employ a variety of
teaching
techniques and instructional strategies to better engage and better
serve all of our children. We
are ever mindful that each child is
unique, each child is special, and each child is full of potential and
promise.
The 2006–2007 school
year was one of the most successful years in our school system's
history in
terms of student achievement and staff accomplishment.
One of our many exceptional educators, Mr.
Justin Minkel, was named the 2007 Arkansas Teacher of the Year and was
a
finalist for national recognition. During
the new term Mr. Minkel will be sharing his insight
and expertise
with his fellow educators in Springdale and with educators across our
state and
across the nation. Our teachers and
administrators will also be studying the latest findings of
nationally–recognized educational experts and researchers and will be
employing
those most effective research–based instructional strategies to improve
learning and to assist us in our ongoing efforts to keep "getting
better
at getting better" in our service to children.
We will also welcome
two new schools into our system for the 2007–2008 term — Willis D. Shaw
Elementary School and Monitor Elementary School. The
dedicated professionals recruited to
staff those new schools are eager to serve children in those
magnificent
learning facilities.
My wish for all of
our students, staff, parents and supportive patrons is that the
2007–2008 term
will be a year of increasing achievement and rewarding involvement in
your
school and community.
Sincerely,
Jim D. Rollins,
Ed.D.
